A lecture series on the Middle East after October 7, on November 1, November 29, December 27, and January 17 at 8:30 p.m. at the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv.
In this fascinating lecture series, Danny Lieber, creator of the successful documentary series Enemies, will take us behind the headlines and into the centers of power shaping the Middle East after October 7. Across four sessions, we will examine how the region’s threat map has changed, meet the key players—from Hamas to Iran—and understand which processes are likely to shape Israel’s future in the coming years.
November 1 | 8:30 p.m.
Despite the heavy blows it has suffered, Hamas continues to build its strength behind the scenes. How does it manage to recover, who is assisting it, and how is its new leadership attempting to reestablish its standing in the regional and international arena?
We will examine how Hamas views the October 7 attack as an operational model, why the weakness of the Palestinian Authority is strengthening its grip in Judea and Samaria as well, and which measures might halt its growing power.
November 29 | 8:30 p.m.
The elimination of Hassan Nasrallah, the fall of the Assad regime, and the rise of Ahmed al-Sharaa have completely changed the balance of power along the northern border. Is this a historic opportunity for Israel, or a new threat waiting to erupt?
An in-depth look at the northern arena following these major upheavals.
December 27 | 8:30 p.m.
How did the information war become the most significant battlefield? We will meet Sheikha Moza and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, understand how Qatar and Turkey exercise power through money, media, and international influence, and examine why the battle for Israel’s legitimacy may be no less dangerous than the military confrontation.
January 17 | 8:30 p.m.
What has changed in Iran since the war? Does the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps continue along the same path even after the elimination of Ali Khamenei, and what can be expected in the struggle between Israel and Iran in the coming years?
A concluding session that looks ahead and attempts to understand where the region is headed.
