The glamorous theatrical musical Drama Queen is coming to Israel’s main stage for the first time: October 31 in Tel Aviv and November 1 in Haifa. The leading role is played by Yekaterina Varnava. This new stage project by one of the most recognizable and daring figures on the contemporary scene is 90 minutes of bold, unexpected, uninhibited entertainment: sharp stand-up and improvisation, live vocals, and dancing at the limits of emotion. Fourteen performers from seven countries appear on stage: actors, vocalists, and dancers.
At the heart of the Drama Queen musical is a story about a dream without a “Plan B,” about falling, starting over, inner freedom, and the need to keep moving forward without illusions and with irony. This is neither a concert nor a collection of show numbers, but a production in which drama, humor, and musical action exist as a unified whole. Yekaterina Varnava is the central figure of the production, around whom the tone and energy of the story are built.
Eighteen original musical compositions written specifically for Drama Queen are performed live, setting the rhythm and emotional pulse of the production. The project’s visual component is an independent artistic language: 150 exclusive costumes constantly change the pace, style, and atmosphere of the action.
The project was created as a large-scale contemporary stage show. A large stage, huge LED screens, video visuals, and an expressive lighting score serve the development of the story and the mood of each scene.
Drama Queen is a contemporary musical for adult audiences that sounds sharp, relevant, honest, and unfiltered—18+.
