A tribute concert to Sting’s music, featuring vocals by Tommer Hesseg, will take place in the open-air venue of an ancient monastery by the sea in Jaffa. The program includes jazz versions of his hits.
We invite you to a special evening by the sea: Sting’s music, hundreds of candles, the ancient walls of an Armenian monastery, and the live sound of a jazz band featuring vocalist Tommer Hesseg.
This evening, Sting’s legendary songs — “Shape of My Heart,” “Englishman in New York,” “Fragile,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Desert Rose,” and others — will be performed in an intimate, warm, and vibrant jazz interpretation. Not an orchestral spectacle, but a delicate musical tapestry: vocals, rhythm section, improvisation, the breath of the sea, and the atmosphere of old Jaffa.
The evening’s featured vocalist is Tommer Hesseg. His velvety tone and subtle sense of style will allow you to hear Sting’s familiar songs in a new way: closer, deeper, almost personally.
Just imagine: “Fragile” performed among hundreds of candles, “Desert Rose” echoing with oriental shades in the heart of old Jaffa, “Englishman in New York” turning into a story about the freedom of a big city, and “Shape of My Heart” filling the evening with that quiet, piercing romance for which we love Sting’s music.
This is not simply a tribute concert. It is an evening in which beloved songs become a living conversation: between the vocals and the jazz band, between the old monastery and the sea, between memories of the hits and their new sound here and now.
Vocals — Tommer Hesseg. An Israeli singer, conductor, and composer. He holds a doctorate in music, is a graduate of the Beit-Zvi School of Performing Arts, and is a soloist and conductor of the country’s leading ensembles.
Jazz band — musicians from the SymFunny Orchestra project in a jazz ensemble format: artists with academic experience at leading theaters and philharmonic orchestras, as well as active participants in Israel’s contemporary music scene.
The concert takes place in an open-air venue on the grounds of an ancient monastery by the sea. Evenings by the sea can be cool, so we recommend bringing a light wrap or something warm.
There is no bar or café on the monastery grounds.
The monastery entrance is from the Jaffa promenade side, not through the Old City.
See you among the candles, music, and evening sea.
