The play “Kremulator,” based on a novel by Sasha Filipenko, tells a story of love and choice against the backdrop of the Soviet era. Starts at 20:00.
“Cremulator” is the first theatrical production based on Sasha Filipenko’s novel of the same name, created from authentic interrogation documents of the director of the first crematorium in the USSR. Directed by Maxim Didenko. Starring Maxim Sukhanov. Vera is played by Svetlana Mamresheva. The Investigator is played by Igor Titov.
At the center of the story is Pyotr Nesterenko, a former White Army pilot, officer, and exile. After years of wandering, he makes the impossible decision to return to his homeland, driven not by calculation but by the love of his life.
This is the story of a man prepared to give everything—his life, honor, and truth—for a feeling stronger than fear and time.
A story of love that becomes a trial, and of faith that compels one to walk toward the fire.
Of a choice between loyalty and salvation, between the past and the future, between duty and the heart.
The play premiered in Berlin in 2024 and was a participant in the VOICES BERLIN festival.
In 2023, Sasha Filipenko’s novel “Cremulator” was named the best European novel by the French magazine Transfuge.
Stage adaptation: Johannes Kirsten, chief dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin.
Composer: Sergei Nevsky, winner of the Berlin Art Prize.
Doors open at 19:00.
The performance begins at 20:00.
