The Old Man and the Sea - Mayu Shviro & Nur Bar Goren
Mayu Shviro and Nur Bar Goren present a performance combining original music inspired by Eastern traditions and classical music with an animated film based on Ernest Hemingway’s novella. The show features live cello and percussion accompanying the animation, creating a multi-sensory experience. This nominated work has been presented at festivals in Israel and abroad.
The Old Man and the Sea
Mayu Shviro and Nur Bar Goren arrive at AMAMA with The Old Man and the Sea – a performance combining original music and an animated film inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s novella.
Inspired by musical traditions from the East (Azerbaijan and Turkey), classical music, improvisation, and the sounds of nature, the performance is accompanied by an animated film created by Mayo and Micha Israeli, based on her paintings and inspired by Japanese calligraphy. On stage, cello and percussion accompany the film live, creating a multi-sensory experience that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the story through sound, imagery, and the inner world of the work.
Over the past year, the performance has been presented at festivals in Israel and abroad, and has been nominated at several international animation festivals.
