A lecture evening, Hyde Park, and community singing will take place at Beit Liebling in Tel Aviv. Doors open at 19:30; the evening will focus on graffiti, protest, and freedom of expression.
Talk to the Wall: Lecture · Speakers’ Corner · Community Singing
Over the years, thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Israel. Many of them carried signs, some handwritten. Crowds chanted, waved slogans, confronted one another—and public spaces filled with symbols, stickers, and inscriptions. But they are not the only signs of resistance.
You are invited to an evening that aims to open our eyes to the politicization of urban space. The event will begin with a lecture by Tsifa Kampinsky, in which we will take a close look at the graffiti battles in the Florentin neighborhood since October 7, 2023—and reveal, through the layers of paint, the rift in Israeli society. Together, we will talk about the walls surrounding us in the city, covered with difficult texts that have already become invisible to us.
We will then move on to a speakers’ corner featuring artists and activists who will discuss urban phenomena that do not necessarily appear political at first glance, and that require a second look. Seven minutes each—and members of the audience are invited to participate too!
Speakers: Omer Shizaf, Oz Zaluf, Stav Axenfeld, and Roy Gordon.
To conclude, we will move on to drinks and community singing of songs of peace and hope. On keyboards: Adar Ben Ezra.
