From the European Dream to the Front Lines of Israel’s Public Diplomacy

Oded Nir, an expert on antisemitism, a commentator on European affairs, a media personality, and musician.

Oded Nir lived in Amsterdam for 20 years, built an international career as a musician, and got to know Europe from the inside.

Then October 7 happened.

During the difficult events surrounding the Maccabi Tel Aviv–Ajax match in Amsterdam, Oded found himself at the heart of the incident, assisting Israelis and gaining a close-up view of a reality that changed everything for him. He left the life he had built in Europe and returned home—to Israel.

In a personal, fascinating, and at times unsettling lecture, Oded discusses what is happening in Europe—things we in Israel may still not understand sufficiently:

• Rising antisemitism
• The strengthening of Islamism
• The future of Jewish communities
• Jewish identity and Zionism
• What has changed in the world since October 7
