An Israeli play about a charged encounter between three generations. The performance takes place at Beit Zioni America, 1 Daniel Frish, Tel Aviv-Yafo.
A poignant and gripping Israeli family story. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, Ari Peled—a former Palmach fighter, charismatic and tempestuous—invites his son and grandson for a weekend at his home in Crete. What is meant to be a celebratory gathering of three generations of Israeli men quickly becomes an explosive clash between past and present, and between wounds that have never healed. This is a contemporary Israeli play, witty and moving, combining turbulent family drama with a sharp look at the entire Israeli story: what is passed down from one generation to the next, and what can still be changed.
In an old house overlooking the sea, family secrets, old scores, war traumas, and questions about intergenerational inheritance, masculinity, old age, and death are revealed. Amid glasses of raki, incisive humor, and moments of grace, each of the men is forced to take a fresh look at his father, his son—and himself.
