The second cinematic adaptation of George Orwell’s futuristic novel, written in 1948. Michael Radford (The Postman) strives to remain as faithful as possible to the literary source. The design and atmosphere closely reflect the period in which the novel was written, evoking memories of bombed London. Beautiful cinematography by Roger Deakins. This was Richard Burton’s final role.
