Gal de Paz Returns to Succot Blues 2026
After her spectacular performances at Succot Blues over the past two years, Gal de Paz is no longer the same Gal de Paz. Even then, her reputation preceded her: her performances at our festivals and elsewhere were sold out, and audiences left spellbound. Since then, she has reached every home in Israel through the screen as a finalist on Rising Star, where she courageously revealed her uncompromising artistry and extraordinary abilities across a wide range of genres.
It will be fascinating to hear her return to the small stage and to the blues after all this.
In the show Divas of Blues, Gal immerses herself in the world of the queens of blues and soul—trailblazing women who expressed opposition to oppression, a yearning for freedom, faith, and passion. From Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Nina Simone, and Etta James, through Koko Taylor and Big Mama Thornton, to Aretha Franklin, each of them shaped the path of the blues and influenced generations of creators.
With her powerful, unique voice, Gal gives the songs a personal and captivating interpretation. She remains faithful to the originals in her own way. She accompanies herself on piano, joined by Omer Elias, guitarist of The Paz Band, for a rich musical dialogue between voice, piano, and guitar.
Gal de Paz—a singer, songwriter, and pianist, one of the great voices to emerge here—brings to this show the full breadth of her rich musical journey: from the Israeli Opera at the age of 10, through a Hebrew solo album produced by Louis Lahav, to The Paz Band, the Lucille Crew collective, the opening performance for Aerosmith at Hayarkon Park, and collaborations with Shalom Hanoch, Dudu Tassa, Guy Mazig, Rockfour, Peter Roth, and others.
