Yair Dalal, master of the oud and violin and one of the central figures in shaping Israel’s ethnic musical language, comes to the Sukkot Blues Festival with a performance that moves between East and West, between the desert and blues clubs, and between ancient traditions and music born in the moment.
Dalal is a musician who creates connections. Throughout his career, he has developed a personal style that naturally brings together the oud and Middle Eastern music, the violin and folk tradition, and American blues—the blue notes, the 12-bar form, and the freedom of the jam.
Together with an excellent group of musicians, he embarks on a journey of love, wandering, and longing, in which the oud meets harmonica and guitars, the East meets America, and the blues takes on new and unexpected colors.
Alongside Dalal’s original material, the program will also include songs from the American tradition and works by Dalal’s favorite American artist, Bob Dylan, who wrote quite a few unforgettable blues songs.
A musical mosaic crossing continents and traditions, connecting the musical roots from which Dalal emerged with his love of blues and free-form playing.
