Amiel May, a singer-songwriter and guitarist, is our latest discovery, and we’re excited to share him with you. We invited him to open the Sukkot Blues Festival with a full-band performance featuring his new album, Back Home to You, after listening to the album’s songs again and again and being captivated by their musical honesty, freshness, and beauty.

It’s not every day that we get the chance to bring something new—and this good—to our stage.

It’s difficult to fit Amiel into a single musical genre. His songs move freely between blues, country, and American rock, with guitars at the center, strong melodies, and a warm, rootsy sound. Among his influences, you can hear the melodic rock of Dire Straits, the freedom and jam-oriented character of the Grateful Dead, and the broad American tradition that connects blues, folk, and country.

For the festival, May will come to Shablul with an expanded six-piece ensemble, featuring two guitars, Hammond organ and keyboards, bass, and drums—a rich arrangement that allows the music to move between intimate moments and sweeping, open rock-blues.
