Enemies, A Love Story
The stage adaptation “Enemies, A Love Story” at Beit Lessin Theatre, 101 Dizengoff Street, Tel Aviv, tells Herman’s story between two women in a struggle between guilt and desire.
New York, 1949. The city is bustling, the world is trying to recover from the war, and Herman Broder wants to start over. He lives between two women: his wife, a Polish peasant who saved his life during the war, and a beautiful, wounded young woman to whom he is drawn, sweeping him into a tempestuous, passionate affair—when his first wife suddenly returns from the dead.
Amid guilt, desire, survival, and increasingly complicated lies, Herman tries to hold on to the future without looking back. But the past will not let go.
This stage adaptation offers a sharp, compelling, and unsettling look at love, guilt, and the possibility—or illusion—of a new beginning.
