A play at Habima. Two Israeli theater lovers arrive in London and discover that it is an antisemitic battlefield. I surprise problems, an ex, and a radical escort girl.
What was supposed to be an obsessive dream vacation in London’s West End quickly turns into a mad survival journey. When two Israeli friends, theater and musical fanatics, land in the British capital for an extreme theater marathon, they discover that present-day London is less “Mary Poppins” and more a battlefield rife with antisemitism and protests.
As if trying to navigate a hostile city weren’t enough to ruin their opening-night performance of Les Misérables, the trip spirals completely out of control. The past catches up with them in the form of an obsessive, unrestrained ex who flew in specifically to destroy everything, and if that weren’t enough, an apparently routine late-night encounter with a local escort takes an absurd turn when she is revealed to be a furious, radical pro-Palestinian activist.
Amid sharp punchlines, arguments on the Underground, and desperate attempts to make it to the third bell in the theater, the play examines the fault line between blind, obsessive love for musicals and the deranged, hostile reality of being Israeli in today’s Europe.
