Lecture on the philosophy of the 'Harry Potter' book series, examining Harry's coming-of-age journey, his destiny, and what the wizarding world taught him. Speaker Gorr Frey will discuss the influence of Freudianism on the characters and how we can become more heroic.

What turned the Harry Potter book series into a massive success worldwide? What did the world of magic teach Harry about his coming-of-age journey, his destiny, and ours?
We will walk with Harry on his journey — from an orphaned boy living with the shocking Dursleys, to discovering the world of magic through Dumbledore and Hogwarts, via the Patronus charm and godfather Sirius Black, all the way to his final maturation — overcoming death.
We will hear what Freud would say about this journey, and how we too can be more heroes, and perhaps even more wizards.
