An exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art showcasing works by artists who experienced persecution or loss based on their identity, and who formulate a new world using symbols and traditions. The works express individual voices and reveal personal interpretations of traumatic reality. The artists use art as a tool for exploring the psyche and building a safe place.
Many of the exhibited artists and creators experienced persecution or loss based on their identity, while for others, trauma manifests as an intergenerational shadow. They created from an inner vision and dialogue with the Jewish spiritual world. The works express individual and unconventional voices, revealing personal interpretations of a traumatic reality.
Most of the creators viewed their art as a means to explore and map the human psyche in its unconscious aspects, and as a necessary step in creating a safe space to rebuild their lives. Through symbols and traditions from the past, they formulate a new world that allows for life: the Vision of New Bones.
