The first evening of the new year under the auspices of the New Jerusalem Journal. Guests of the Poetry. Secret Materials project are the founder of the samizdat magazine Gastronomicheskaya Subbota, prose writer and poet Eli Berkovich and the bestselling author of Plato's Bodies, 7/10 and winner of the Russian Booker Prize Alexander Ilichevsky.
Yes, in Israel they love catchy phrases, but this time our guests are real legends of Russian-language literature: a brilliant poet, prose writer, professional bookbinder, who published in the legendary St. Petersburg samizdat magazines of the 80s "Chasy" and "Obvodny Kanal" - and the founder (along with the Krusanov brothers) of the samizdat magazine "Gastronomicheskaya Subbota", author of the novels "Father" and "Through the Eyes of a Bookbinder" Eli Berkovich - and one of the most popular modern prose writers in the Russian-speaking world (and a wonderful poet), author of the best-selling novels "Matisse", "Persian", "Newton's Drawing", "Plato's Solids", "7/10" and others, winner of the "Big Book" and "Russian Booker" awards Alexander Ilichevsky. Many know these authors primarily as masters of prose, but their first books, published in 1990 and 2000, respectively, were poetry. And now they continue to actively write and publish poetry.
