“Stories from the Ark”, Final Exhibition of the KakdelArt × Neve Schechter Art Lab

This is an invitation to an event marking six months of artistic activity, during which creators were invited to creative laboratories operating with the aim of exploring the ways in which personal and collective, traditional and contemporary knowledge is preserved and passed on among us, and to offer possible answers for this moment: The flood has arrived. What will we take with us? What must be preserved?

During the evening, the project’s two labs will come together for a joint meeting: the “Flood Lab,” consisting of eight Russian-speaking artists who immigrated to Israel in recent years following the Russia–Ukraine war, and the “Body Imprints” lab, which focused on preserving knowledge through movement and brought together artists from the fields of visual art, dance, music, video, animation, and writing. During the evening, we will examine the connection between the two research groups and how movement translated into dance relates to the movement of migration.

The works of Theodor Ivanov, Irina Korotayeva, and Darya Elkonina, created במסגרת the “Flood Lab” curated by Dina Yekerson, will be presented for the first time.

The evening will also include a concluding multicultural discussion among all the participants of the different labs, addressing the meaning of artistic creation and cultural preservation in times of constant change.

Event schedule

19:00 — Gathering and opening of the concluding exhibition of the “Flood Lab,” featuring artists Theodor Ivanov, Irina Korotayeva, and Darya Elkonina, at “The Object.” At the same time, the gallery “The Object” will host a durational performance by Roni Sagie במסגרת the “Body Imprints” lab.

You are invited to the final event of the “Ark” laboratory at Neve Schechter 🌊

Six months ago, a group of Russian-speaking artists began exploring the story of Noah’s Ark through their own experiences of emigration, adaptation, and preserving memory: What do we take with us when the familiar world changes? What must be preserved? And what is born after the “flood”?

This time, Theodor Ivanov, Irina Korotayeva, and Darya Elkonina will present their new works, created במסגרת the laboratory. This is a continuation of the project participants’ presentation series.

That same evening, two of Neve Schechter’s creative laboratories will meet: our “Flood Laboratory” and “Rashmiguf,” a project about preserving knowledge through movement. Together, the artists will discuss the connection between physical movement, dance, and movement across borders—emigration.

The evening will include an exhibition opening, a performance, and a joint conversation with the artists and curators.
