Baby Sign Language Workshop
Led by Inbal Bleich Ramer, speech-language pathologist.
During the workshop, we will learn what baby sign language is, why it is popular, and its benefits for parents and babies. We will examine what happens at each age stage—up to 8 months, 8–12 months, and after the age of one—and discuss how to choose signs, how babies learn (signs and in general), and how to encourage communication and language development.
We will learn and practice approximately 35 signs during the workshop. We will also discuss books—whether to read to babies, when to start, and how—and explore music and the ways it helps little ones learn language and speech. We will provide examples of songs that can be sung to encourage learning signs and first words, and discuss how to encourage the production of first words during bath time or creative activities.
We will talk about what to expect regarding the use of signs and first words at each age, as well as the steps to successfully implement the use of sign language.
The workshop content is relevant from birth to one year of age.
Babies who have not yet begun crawling may attend.
