The Beersheba Theater production “Pink Lady” at the Netanya Cultural Center. A drama about a young ultra-Orthodox woman embarking on a journey of self-discovery and freedom.
Batya, a young Haredi woman and mother of three, lives in Jerusalem within a carefully regulated routine. Her world is suddenly shaken when she receives suspicious photographs in the mail of her beloved husband, Leizer, and discovers that he is being blackmailed by a local gang. The revelation upends the couple’s lives and sends Batya on a journey of awakening, self-discovery, and the search for emotional and feminine freedom.
The play is based on a screenplay by Mindy Ehrlich, who grew up in Jerusalem’s Haredi community, and which became an acclaimed, award-winning film directed by Nir Bergman. The production brings a rare Haredi female voice to the stage and reveals the human complexity behind the walls of silence.
Running time: 90 minutes, without an intermission.
