The tale “The Champion of Onions and the Champion of Garlic” by H. N. Bialik
Featuring Bialik’s songs for young children
Didi’s workshop is a special place—this is where he creates props for theater productions. At Didi’s, puppets come to life and props awaken within stories that are created magically before the children’s eyes.
In a celebration of theater combining puppets, masks, and props, the story of The Champion of Onions and the Champion of Garlic comes to life. Along the way, the audience meets the king’s son, who brought the news of the onion to a distant kingdom whose inhabitants had never tasted an onion in their lives.
A story about generosity and genuine kindness versus greed.
The production incorporates the beloved, familiar children’s songs by the national poet,
Haim Nahman Bialik: “The Flower for the Butterfly,” “In the Garden Bed,” “Flowerpot,” “Across the Sea,” “Horseman,” “Two Girls,” “Swing,” “Musicians’ Choir,” “Bird’s Nest.”
