The meeting - Arrival | On the brain and language. How do we understand language and how does language create reality?
What is art if not a means of expressing who we are now, in the past, or aspire to be? Films are created by people and reality is the mirror of our mind's translation, in fact, we are all living in a movie. These days it seems we all need films that outline and describe a different reality. Consequently, in every film, we ask what brought about this behavior? What enables such a reality? One answer is the human brain, which creates reality, translates it, and leads to action and change in the world. The brain is what created the film and it is the viewer.
Every film in this series will be preceded by a lecture focusing on an aspect related to the wonders of the brain. We will talk about the brain's power to change and heal through the film "The Fisher King," about the question of human nature through the film "My Heart Skipped a Beat." How consciousness creates reality will be seen in "The Truman Show" and about the power of language in understanding and constructing the world in the film "Arrival."
