A lecture on happiness with Dr. Haim Shapira, at Gray Modi'in, 69 Dam HaMaccabim Street. We will debunk myths about happiness, desire, pleasure, regrets, and generosity.
Is the purpose of life to be happy? Why do simplistic guides to happiness drive people into depression? And what are the biggest mistakes people make on the journey toward happiness? Is happiness really what we are all seeking—or is it perhaps merely an elusive temptation that always slips away at the last moment?
In a fascinating meeting with Dr. Haim Shapira, we will deconstruct some of the greatest myths about happiness, discover why happiness guides may actually do us harm, and hear what Tolstoy, Kahneman, Heine, and Seneca have to say about truly happy days. We will talk about happiness as a choice, the complicated relationship between desire and pleasure, and everything we are not told about regrets, envy, and generosity—including a surprising discovery called “the happy volunteer.”
