Lecture-performance by Kobi Meidan on settings of poets’ songs, on 26/10/2026 at 19:00 at Kiryat HaTarbut Ono. The session lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Kobi Meidan in a session combining a lecture and a performance. Reading excerpts, creators’ life stories, video clips—some of them rare—film clips and musical excerpts, images and texts in changing graphics… All these are used to create an experience that is literary and profound—but also fascinating and rhythmic. Duration of each session: approximately 90 minutes.
On the songs of poets set to music. What was the first poet’s song to be set to music? Who is the godfather of Arik Einstein who was revived as a result? How did this phenomenon, unique to Israeli culture, develop: the songs of the finest poets, set to music, becoming hits in popular music and even rock ’n’ roll… A survey interspersed with performances by leading singers and creators.
***There is no need to read or be familiar with the works before the sessions.
