Mozart — Quintet and Concerto
Mozart’s writing for wind instruments in their various combinations is a world unto itself within his diverse body of work. He elevated writing for the “Harmonie” ensemble—the period term for an ensemble of woodwind instruments and French horn—to levels unknown before his time, and dedicated to it some of the most moving and expressive modes in his musical palette.
The Quintet and the arrangement for quintet of Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major bring together two of the most sublime works in the Köchel catalogue.
