The Archaeological Research Front in Jerusalem Opens to the General Public

The 19th conference, “Innovations in the Archaeology of Jerusalem and Its Environs,” invites you to three days of lectures, research, and discoveries from the forefront of archaeological research in Jerusalem and its surroundings.

  • Water — From the story of the Pool of Siloam to the Mamilla and Sultan’s Pools, new research reveals the story behind the city’s water systems.
  • Changes of Regime — What happens to a city during periods of crisis and change? New research follows Jerusalem and its surroundings through different periods, from antiquity to the Ottoman period.
  • Armies and Battle Sites — Military camps, fortifications, and battle sites tell the story of the periods when Jerusalem and its surroundings stood at the heart of conflicts.
  • The Gates of Jerusalem — In a special festive session, we will follow the gates from different periods and examine the role of the city’s gates and those in its surroundings in antiquity.

Alongside all this: research highlights, new finds from excavations, conservation and development in the Jerusalem area, commerce, leisure, bathhouses, and more.
