If I Forget You, Jerusalem

For those who have missed Jerusalem, I am continuing my series of walks through the eternal city. While Jerusalem is receiving less attention from tourists, I have decided to repeat a walk through some of its most authentic corners. This time, the route—a marathon—will begin on the Mount of Olives and end near Mount Zion.

We will meet at 8:00 a.m. near the Mormon University. The route will be one-way; in the morning, we will move some cars to the Cinematheque. The walk’s itinerary is quite full. We will visit Bethphage, the Russian Church of the Ascension, the suspension bridge, Akeldama, and observation points in Jerusalem’s Old City and on the Mount of Olives.

Paid attractions may be encountered along the way. Bring some small change.

The route is approximately 15 km long. In particular, bring water and closed-toe shoes.

Those who need help getting to the starting point of the route, please write in the trip chat. I will try to help closer to the date of the hike.

The guide’s services are “conditionally free.” As is customary at apartment concerts, at the end of the hike everyone can put into the hat as much as they feel is appropriate. The organizational cost of the hike and route scouting amounts to 600–1,000 shekels and takes a tremendous amount of time. Your donations make it possible to continue the project and prepare new routes. People from all backgrounds join the hikes—from Masa participants and new immigrants to seasoned programmers. For this reason, we try not to specify an amount. The main thing is for all participants to feel comfortable.
