Sukkot holiday tour on ancient agriculture at Ein Hanya Site, Jerusalem, September 27–October 1 at 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00. No additional 2015/2016.
The Sukkot holiday, also known as the Feast of Ingathering, takes place at the end of the agricultural year and commemorates the gathering of produce from the fields, vineyards, and orchards.
On a special holiday tour at Ein Hanya, we will take a close look at the ancient agriculture that characterized the Judean Hills. We will encounter field crops, irrigated and rain-fed agriculture, and the agricultural terraces that made it possible to cultivate farmland in the mountains.
We will refresh ourselves in the water of the spring tunnel and the beautiful nymphaeum, learn how the spring water was used to irrigate the crops, admire the impressive water system that carried the spring water to the agricultural plots, and discover the fruit trees planted throughout the garden, including magnificent olive groves.
A kosher sukkah will be set up at the site.
