Rappelling, tours, and audiovisual experiences on Jerusalem’s walls on September 27, 2026, at the Ramparts Walk in the Old City. The activity takes place during the intermediate days of Sukkot.
During Sukkot intermediate days, all visitors to the Old City are invited to climb the walls and descend to the hidden sites beneath them: self-guided and theatrical walking routes on the Ramparts Walk, rappelling from the southern wall, a free puzzle trail on the northern wall, audiovisual experiences in Zedekiah’s Cave and at the “Ancient City Gate” site, and a pilgrims’ market at the entrance to the ancient gate!
The Ramparts Walks, a World Heritage Site, are open during the intermediate days of Sukkot until 18:00. Visitors can choose from three self-guided tour routes—Northern, Southern, and 360—explore at their own pace, and follow an augmented-reality app featuring the stories of the defenders who have stood on the walls throughout the generations. Discover hidden gems and unique, breathtaking views of the domes, towers, and mountains of ancient and modern Jerusalem, breathe in Jerusalem’s autumn air, and let the city reveal its secrets during the pleasant evening hours as well. Visitors may enter and exit the wall through five different gates on the same day by scanning their ticket barcode.
The Southern Walk leads from Jaffa Gate toward the Western Wall, and visitors can also rappel from it near Zion Gate (12:00–17:00).
On the Northern Walk, visitors can join a theatrical tour with advance registration. The tour departs from Jaffa Gate every hour on the hour between 11:00 and 14:00 and ends with a descent to the “City Gates” spectacle at the Ancient City Gate site.
