A documentary film about the euthanasia of the giraffe Marius and our relationship with nature. It will be screened on September 24 and 28, 2026, at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
In 2014, the euthanasia of Marius, a young giraffe at the Copenhagen Zoo, sparked worldwide controversy. Director Max Kestner sets out in the wake of the incident on a documentary journey through research stations and the landscapes of the mind, examining our relationship with nature and animals. Not all the questions are answered, but the journey itself is compelling and thought-provoking.
