Urban tour about the struggle for independence during the British Mandate, on 15/09/2026 in Jerusalem. Starts at the Museum of Underground Prisoners and ends at the King David Hotel.
The Jewish Community in Mandatory Palestine: From Underground Movements to Independence
The training will focus on a turbulent and formative period in the history of the Zionist movement and the Jewish community in Mandatory Palestine—the struggle for independence during the British Mandate, with an emphasis on the years from the outbreak of World War II through the establishment of the State of Israel.
We will expand on the underground movements’ differing approaches to achieving independence; describe dramatic operations carried out against the Mandate authorities and the authorities’ responses to them; discuss several underground leaders; and learn about underground prisoners incarcerated in Jerusalem’s Central Prison.
Please bring water, comfortable shoes, and lunch.
To cancel your participation, please email: [email protected]
The training is conditional on a minimum number of participants. The Begin Heritage Center reserves the right to cancel the training for any reason, with up to 72 hours’ notice before the activity begins.
