An original production by Beit Avi Chai offering a nighttime journey through the Psalms via music, conversation, and Midrash. During the evening, beloved psalms will be performed alongside personal stories and traditional and fresh interpretations. Featuring Maya Belzitsman, Noam Banai, Maayan Linik, and additional artists.
One hundred and fifty psalms contain moments of pain and peaks of happiness, verses haunted by fear and others filled with joy, descriptions of dreams and nightmares, spiritual heights and the smallness of everyday life. They are recited in prayer and as song, while waiting for the bus and during battles, at weddings and funerals. The psalms’ traces are present in spoken Hebrew, popular and classical music, Hasidic melodies, Sephardic tunes, and contemporary Hebrew poetry.
In a special original performance by Beit Avi Chai, we will delve into several beloved psalms and discover new, relevant, and stirring dimensions in them through music, conversation, and midrash. Between the musical performances of the psalms, we will explore fascinating personal stories and traditional and fresh interpretations in a shared circle in the courtyard of Beit Avi Chai.
