Weekly study meeting held at Yedidia Synagogue, featuring Rabbi Daniel Epstein. During the lecture, Rabbi Epstein will discuss the topic "Emmanuel Levinas and the Horror of Being" and the writings of Emmanuel Levinas and Etty Hillesum. The meetings focus on philosophical questions regarding meaning, moral chaos, and existence.
What can one aspire to, beyond and above existence and what might fulfill it? The question itself hints at the possibility of another dimension—one that is not a life closed in on itself, nor one that finds its complete satisfaction in walking toward its end. Merely posing the question points to the possibility of an alternative existence, a meaningful one.
Every Friday, we gather at Yedidia Synagogue for study sessions with Rabbi Daniel Epstein, who will speak about moral chaos and the possibilities of existing within it, drawing on Leviticus as interpreted by Emmanuel Levinas, Etty Hillesum, and others.
