On the eve of her tenth birthday, Ayala’s father is called to reserve duty and entrusts her with a secret: if they address a mysterious figure named “Mr. Dream,” they can meet in dreams. Ayala tries the trick but discovers that dreams have a tendency to go awry. She embarks on a wondrous journey to bring her father home, encountering various characters from Lea Goldberg’s children’s poems: “Night Watchman Yonatan,” “The Children’s Bull,” and even an elephant born in an elephant factory. Just when all seems lost, Ayala realizes she is braver than she imagined and that it is worth insisting on dreams.
The musical features performances of familiar and beloved songs such as “What Do the Deer Do” and “Magic Hat,” as well as original compositions receiving their world premiere.
