This event offers a guided exploration of the history and development of the Hebrew language at the Hebrew Language Academy. Visitors will tour an exhibition featuring historical linguistic artifacts and learn about the Academy's ongoing work. The program engages participants with fascinating word origins and language phenomena. It is designed for language enthusiasts, adults, and youth aged 14 and above.
How does language develop? How rich is our Hebrew vocabulary? What does the Academy think about it? Join us on a journey through time to discover the history of Hebrew and the world of its speakers and users. We'll follow ancient and new words, explore fascinating linguistic phenomena, and learn about the Academy's work.
Guided activity with visitor participation, tour of an exhibition featuring Eliezer Ben-Yehuda's correspondence, the Archive of the Language Committee, index cards from the renowned lexicographer Abraham Even-Shoshan, and more.
Language enthusiasts, adults and youth, domestic tourists, and those seeking attractions in Jerusalem.
