The exhibition features photographs by Israeli photographer Menchem Hanani documenting changes to the Nahal Ravida riverbed following the construction of Highway 16. The works showcase the landscape before, during, and after clearing efforts, illustrating how nature gradually recovers. This cultural and educational event is free of charge.
Ra'ava Stream: A Hidden Natural Gem in Jerusalem
Ra'ava Stream flows through the valley between the Beit HaKerem and Givat Sha'ul neighborhoods and the Neve Hof neighborhood in Jerusalem, ending near the Beit Zayit reservoir. This is a hidden natural gem in the heart of the city, a space where landscape and tranquility meet. In recent years, following the paving of Route 16, the stream has undergone dramatic changes that have left a deep mark on the terrain and the character of the area. This collection of photographs seeks to examine the different layers of the stream: before the work was done, during it, and after it, exploring how the landscape scarred, changed, and is beginning to be rebuilt.
About the Photographer
Menachem Hanani has been a resident of Jerusalem for approximately six decades and lives in the Beit HaKerem neighborhood. Menachem is a retired professor at the Hebrew University's Faculty of Medicine and Hadassah Medical Center, specializing in research and teaching in the field of neuroscience. He has practiced photography as a hobby since childhood.
