Aniam Dry’s solo exhibition at the Art Studios in Jerusalem features a sculptural video installation consisting of a series of video works shot in the artist’s studio in recent months and a wall constructed from earth casts. In the center of the room is a life-size screen showing a body trapped in a narrow geological section. The artist presses pieces of earth to her limbs and moves her body relative to them. She brings her neck closer to the earth, the earth comes closer to her neck, her head rests on a form of earth, seeking peace. The grid is made from a simple metal cart on wheels, commonly used in bakeries, the kind that allows one form to be easily exchanged for another. On other walls, a body pushes more earth, which makes another body push the earth. Earth and earth converse.

The exhibition's starting point is the "leap of the path" - a contraction and folding of time and space, almost miraculous, as it is imagined in Jewish sources. In a complex collaborative work between the artist and her creative partners, she unites the word with the body and the material, thus extracting choreography and sculptural interpretations from the stories. The sources themselves appear in the exhibition in various forms, intertwined in the text of the catalogue, arranged in a bookcase inside the space, and around which reading and study sessions will take place during the exhibition.

One of the creative sources that accompanies Dry is the distance between a life based on faith and the field of contemporary art, a distance that required translation from one language to another along the way and the suppression of political questions about the earth that could not be translated into the strict language of the discourse on contemporary art - a language that is decisive and critical. And then - the earth suddenly jumped, quite simply, and occupied the space. He managed to jump, losing control, apparently as he broke apart into layers and began dancing with each other.
