On May 17, the museum will open the exhibition “Kuma: The Work of Eitan Rosenzweig,” featuring the work of the young artist, who was killed in action in the Gaza Strip in November 2023 and who turned 21.
The centerpiece of the exhibition will be “Kuma, Mi Aftzim, and Kankantum” (which in Aramaic means “the components of the ink with which the scribes of Setam wrote sacred texts in Judaism”), an epic 3.6-meter-long scroll meticulously illustrated with ink and featuring biblical figures, architectural elements, sacred buildings, animals, sacred objects, and quotations from written sources. This piece and the rest of his works on display in the exhibition reflect Eitan’s deep connection to his heritage and offer a journey into themes such as consciousness, the collective subconscious, and Jewish destiny.
