The musical performance by Chuchito Valdés and Omar Acosta combines Bach’s music, jazz, and Latin American rhythms.
After their resounding success at the Latin American music festival and in response to numerous requests from the audience, three virtuosos return to the stage!
They are united by their love of jazz, the vibrant rhythms of Latin America, Bach’s music, Buena Vista’s Cuban traditions, and the unstoppable energy of Latin jazz.
What happens when a virtuoso Cuban musician enters into a dialogue with one of the pillars of classical music?
In the program “Bach Goes to Cuba,” Cuban pianist Chuchito Valdés combines the spirit of his Afro-Cuban world with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach—and much more. Thus begins a musical journey in which the boundaries between classical music and Latin American rhythms disappear.
Alongside him is Omar Acosta, the renowned Venezuelan flutist and composer, twice nominated for a Latin Grammy, creator of the iconic work Solo de Pajarillo, and a Yamaha international artist. One of the outstanding Venezuelan flutists of his generation, he was also a flutist and musical director of the National Ballet of Spain.
Together, the musicians create an astonishingly rich sonic tapestry: Bach’s motifs take on new life, fiery Cuban rhythms intertwine with the refinement of early music, and improvisation becomes a language capable of bringing together different eras, cultures, and musical worlds.
