The Jungle Book - The Musical

Due to its success and high demand: “The Jungle Book – The Musical,” the original production directed by Hanoch Rosen, returns.

The production celebrates 30 years and more than half a million spectators, featuring members of the original cast, including Tuvia Tzafir, Shashi Keshet, Eli Danker, Yossi Toledo, Avi Yaffe, and Pini Kidron.

Thirty years after it first took to Israel’s stages in 1996 and captivated audiences of children and adults alike, the musical The Jungle Book, directed by Hanoch Rosen, returns to mark three decades of the popular stage adaptation, which has been enjoyed by more than 500,000 spectators over the years.

The musical returned to the stage about two years ago and was met with great success. Now it reaches a new generation of children, who will rediscover the iconic story of Mowgli, the human child adopted by a pack of wolves in the heart of the jungle, and his many adventures with his animal friends—unfolding as a journey through a symphony of sights and sounds.

In the production to be presented at the Shlomo Hall in Tel Aviv, members of the original cast will appear in their unforgettable roles from the musical, including Tuvia Tzafir as Baloo the bear, Shashi Keshet as Bagheera the panther, Eli Danker as Shere Khan the tiger, Yossi Toledo as Kaa the snake, Avi Yaffe as Phaquli the squirrel, Pini Kidron as the elephant leader, and Eddie Alterman as the king of the monkeys, among others.

All this will take place against the backdrop of the beloved songs written by Miron Minster and Ephraim Sidon, who also collaborated with Rosen on adapting the play, with contemporary musical production by Ben Shopen.

Hanoch Rosen: “When reviving the musical, I thought it would be best to remain faithful to the original—the magical musical from 30 years ago—and give it a touch of Broadway in the set design, aerial sequences, and soundtrack; to bring Broadway to Tel Aviv with an energetic team of dancers and acrobats who will join the original and beloved cast,” says Rosen. “That way, tens of thousands of children from the 1990s, who three decades ago marched around their living rooms pretending to be elephants, will now look at their own children and smile from ear to ear when they rediscover the heroes of their childhood.”
