About the Activity
In Haifa’s busy industrial zone lies a marvelous natural gem: Saadia Stream.
Saadia Stream is a perennial stream with six springs containing clear water, abundant wildlife, and unique vegetation.
Join us on a fascinating tour to discover the rich natural world that exists in the heart of the city and hear the story of the stream and the struggle over its future.
What Awaits Us on the Tour?
🍀 Rare and diverse nature: We will get to know the unique animals and plants that grow here, including the blue water lily—a rare, protected aquatic plant that is endangered.
🍀 Rich history: We will travel back in time and hear what the stream looked like in the past, what surrounded it before the establishment of the state, and how the area has changed over the years.
🍀 A stream in danger: We will learn about the threats to Saadia Stream and the construction plans that could change the stream’s course and seriously harm its natural ecosystem. We will also hear about the public struggle to save it and understand how we, too, can take part.
🍀 An experiential activity for the whole family: We will enjoy exploration games, discover animal tracks, and get to know the local nature up close.
🍀 Protecting the stream: We will dedicate special time to cleaning the stream and preserving the animals’ habitat, for the sake of nature and visitors.
