About the exhibition
Helen Osimo immigrated to Israel from London in 1967 as a volunteer during the Six-Day War.

She studied English Literature and Linguistics at the University of Haifa and worked for 30 years as a professor of linguistics and an English teacher at Oranim Academic College.

After retiring, she began studying "Fiber Art" - a hidden passion that grew during her visits to exhibitions.
Fiber art evolved from textile art, which includes wall hangings, embroidery, weaving and knitting, which have been practiced around the world for thousands of years.
Fiber art refers to art made from natural and synthetic fibers.
These synthetic materials react unpredictably when heated, so the material itself provides the inspiration for the work, and experimentation and exploration are part of the creative process.
The materials and methods dictate the work.
In recent years, she has drawn inspiration from a variety of ideas, using these materials and methods to depict ethical dilemmas (from articles and stories), current issues and, of course, the tragedy that befell us last year, which Helen calls a “before and after.”
“This collection consists of images of the desert that I originally created as a landscape depiction of nature. They later became part of a series of works inspired by events that changed the face of the south.”
