Screening of the film “Sweet Illusions” on August 31, 2026, at Kibbutz Gan Shmuel. A French drama about a Jewish teenager coming of age in the Paris suburbs.
The year is 1985. Vincent, just moments away from turning 13, lives with his Jewish family in the suburbs of Paris: his mother, trying to advance in her career; his father, still trying to find the right career; and his teenage brother, who cares mostly about music and money.
Vincent is going through a period filled with changes—he falls in love for the first time, learns new and surprising things, and prepares for his bar mitzvah—the day he becomes a man. At this point, no longer a child but not yet an adult, he will try to find his place in his family and in the world.
