Practical kokedama workshop led by Uri Betsalel in Gedera. Learn about the technique, create a personal kokedama, and receive maintenance tips.
In this workshop, we’ll enter the wonderful world of plants through hands-on work. We’ll learn the secrets of the technique, get a little dirty with soil (in a good way!), and create a personal piece that will bring natural, calming energy into your home.
Getting to know the method: We’ll learn about the world of kokedama and the philosophy of growing plants in a suspended medium.
Botany for beginners: We’ll understand which plants are suitable for cultivation using this method and why, based on professional agronomic knowledge.
Preparing the foundation: We’ll learn about and mix the specialized planting medium that retains the plant’s moisture and nutrients.
Wrapping and tying: We’ll practice the traditional wrapping technique using moss and twine, until we create a perfect, tightly formed ball.
Maintenance and care: You’ll receive all the professional tips for watering—using the soaking technique—and for keeping your kokedama green and thriving over time.
Hi, I’m Uri Betsalel, a professional agronomist, planner, consultant, and botanical workshop instructor. My connection to the soil and plants is not just a profession, but a way of life. My goal is to make the professional knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years accessible in an experiential, simple, and creative way.
I invite you to join us in Gedera for quality time filled with creativity, a break from screens, and lots of love for nature.
The workshop is suitable for everyone—devoted plant lovers as well as those who have never managed to keep a potted plant alive. It’s perfect for couples, friends, or quality time with yourself.
Children’s participation: The wrapping and sculpting work requires some patience and fine motor skills. The activity is wonderful as shared quality time for a parent and child! The workshop is suitable for children aged 7 and up.
