Katya Tubol Quartet
A spiritual jazz performance inspired by the album “Africa” will take place at the Red Sea Jazz Festival at the Port of Eilat. The Katya Tubol Quartet will perform the piece for 50 minutes.
A tribute to Pharoah Sanders’ 1987 spiritual jazz album Africa

In 1987, the year the Red Sea Jazz Festival was founded in Eilat, saxophonist Pharoah Sanders released his masterpiece album Africa. Since then, the album has been considered one of the cornerstones of spiritual jazz—a hypnotic, cosmic, and profound journey combining sweeping African rhythms with immense energy and boundless artistic freedom.
In a special performance created for the festival’s 40th edition, the leading quartet, headed by pianist Katia Tuvul, will take the stage to breathe new life into this masterpiece. The performance promises energetic live renditions combining an irresistible groove, daring improvisation, and an uplifting sense of liberation and spiritual expansiveness.
