Guitarist and composer Mordi Farber is considered one of the world’s leading jazz musicians and is listed among the 350 greatest guitarists of all time in the acclaimed book by historian Scott Yanow. Farber, who left his mark on Israeli music during 1978–1982 through performances with Arik Einstein, Shlomo Artzi, Yoni Rechter, Shem Tov Levi, Shlomo Gronich, and others, was the first Israeli accepted to Berklee on a full scholarship in 1982.
Following a rich international career that included recordings and performances with giants such as Michael Brecker, Jack DeJohnette, Eddie Gomez, Jack Bruce, and Billy Hart; teaching at prestigious institutions such as New York University, Berklee, and The New School; and composing for television programs and films, Farber comes to the festival with an outstanding young quintet: The Young Lions.
The performance will feature original material from Farber’s solo albums, showcasing his melodic and harmonic writing, as well as the versatility and virtuosity that have defined generations of guitarists in Israel and around the world.
