Maor Cohen’s beautiful and beloved songs from across the years, periods, and various ensembles are given a new, dazzling, spectacular makeover in a special joint performance for the festival, bringing the sizzling atmosphere of Las Vegas clubs in the 1960s straight to Eilat Port. Maor Cohen, the “Peter Pan” of Israeli rock—a musical adventurer, creator, actor, and comedian—will take the stage backed by the powerful horn section and tight groove of the Israeli Jazz Orchestra.
The repertoire will center on sweeping big-band arrangements written especially for Cohen’s best-known songs, alongside special performances of timeless classics by Frank Sinatra, Arik Einstein, and others.
The new arrangements and sparkling orchestral vibe are provided by the Israeli Jazz Orchestra, under the artistic direction of Ron Almog and Yair Slutzky. The orchestra, made up of 12 leading musicians from the local scene, works within the classic big-band format, but its music reaches far beyond the traditional sound, incorporating modern influences, rhythms from around the world, and fresh, original Israeli compositions. This is a winning performance promising the audience an energetic, elegant, and funny experience all at once.
Performance duration: 60 minutes
