Idan Raichel, one of the most influential creators and musicians in contemporary Israeli music, presents a unique original production on the festival stage—a retrospective of a magnificent career spanning more than two decades.

Emerging from the exposed, intimate piano setting in which his greatest songs were written, the performance on the festival’s main stage will develop into a vibrant musical celebration. At its heart is the idea of human and artistic encounters as engines of creativity and inspiration, alongside a sketch of the central milestones that have shaped Raichel’s artistic language over the years.

During the performance, a series of exceptional musicians whom Raichel admires and respects will join him onstage. Some are long-standing creative partners, while others are figures he admired from afar and who influenced his musical imagination.

The deep-rooted connection with Abate Berihun’s soulful wind playing; the tribal and desert groove brought by rhythm and folklore giants Yossi Fine, Yankele Segal, Zohar Fresco, and Shahar Haziza; the lyrical, jazzy dialogue with Eli Degibri’s saxophone; the piano conversation with Tom Oren; and the unique singing of Shavhaya Bat Israel. Without a doubt, the performance will present Idan’s familiar and beloved works in a new and extraordinary light.

“Milestones” is a special original production created for the stage of the Eilat Jazz Festival in honor of the festival’s 40th anniversary. This is a rare opportunity for audiences to witness one of Israel’s greatest creators open the diary of his musical journey and invite a series of exceptional jazz musicians to play with him, in real time, new interpretations of the songs that have shaped our culture.
