The Father, starring Dvir Bandak, is a human drama of rare beauty and truth that will make you leave the theater and hug the people you love tightly.

André is a man around 60. He is an engineer, perhaps a dancer. He has two daughters, perhaps one. He lives in his own home—or perhaps in his daughter’s home with her partner. He wears a very accurate watch, but his internal clock has been damaged. It is called dementia.

With brilliance, humor, and compassion, the play manages to bring us, the audience, into André’s mind. Unlike in a conventional play, we do not watch him from the outside; we experience reality through his eyes—the broken, chaotic reality. Together with André, the audience tries, moment by moment, to piece together the story of his life as it falls apart and is rebuilt. The threads sometimes connect and sometimes do not at all; people, places, times, and events become mixed up in our minds as we search for an anchor.

This is a story about memory, relationships, longing, and the great human spirit found within each of us, no matter what we lose along the way.

An award-winning immersive play by French playwright Florian Zeller, presented in major theaters around the world. It quickly became a contemporary classic and was adapted into an Oscar-winning film.
