Lecture Series: “The Light Through the Cracks” — Leonard Cohen Between Life and Creation — Dr. Avi Alon — 12.4.27

A journey between words and continents, into the world of Leonard Cohen’s inspiration and creativity. Through the stages of his life—from his childhood in Montreal in a Jewish family, through the sun-drenched Greek island and drugs, his scandalous visits to Israel, and his retreat to a Buddhist monastery, to the pinnacle of global folk-rock—we will discover how each became part of his great songs. We will also be exposed to his sensitive, fractured soul, and understand how his life experiences became a source of creativity and inspiration, and how the stories behind the songs add new meaning to them.
